Save the Children staff in Yemen created an initiative to support children and families who were affected by the airstrikes in Sana'a. The staff accumulated money from their salaries to support 120 families estimated 700 individuals.

The Save the Children staff believe in their personal responsibility and accountability to support the children and families in need especially in this very difficult situation that Yemen faces. Eftikar AlShamir and other staff who brought the idea to the team who welcomed it immediately, said "This is not volunteer work, it is every one's responsibility to support in this situation. We agreed to support the displaced people who live near to the areas in which staff live and schools that have big numbers of displaced people living in them."

According to Sadaq Hudami, a Save the Children driver in Sana'a, "I found many families around our office in Faj Attan who are really in need and they came to our office to receive water. We will include them in the distribution list. Plus each staff will take two food baskets to distribute within their areas." Sadaq explained.

Today the staff started the distribution of the basic food items include rice, cook oil, sugar, beans, wheat, Tuna, and water tank to displaced people gathering in schools and areas in Sana'a. " The distribution process will continue for the coming two days." Sadaq said.
